  1. Are you using two different cameras for these IR shots? Some seem to have that pronounced central flare, some don’t.

  2. The vagaries of th Hoya R72 and the sensor/lens for the Canon. I am still trying to figure out the exact scenarios that the flare comes into play. Like you said, sometimes its there..sometimes its not. I have been messing with apeture as well as ISO to see..

  4. Yeah I thought perhaps it was you… I have read that certain lenses can work and certain others cannot with the IR for the very reason of the hot spot. Lens shades may help, but often give you the vignette problem.
